A while ago I decided to try buying rice in larger quantities, and it came in this cool little burlap bag. While I love the bag, it's been hanging around for a while because, what exactly am I supposed to do with it? I found a really neat idea. It was between that, and getting a lot more rice and having enough bags to make curtains.

I had a boring recycled-plastic tote bag I didn't use that much that was the perfect candidate - it had straps all the way to the bottom of the bag, so I didn't have to buy new webbing and they would help keep the burlap from bulging out too much, and it had binding around all the edges. I cut both bags apart and used the front and back recycled tote pieces to cut the burlap. Instead of using iron-on vinyl, I simply treated the two layers as one when reconstructing the bag.

It looks much better now. As an added bonus, it's much sturdier and doesn't collapse when filling with groceries.
